The Jackson Township Board of Supervisors recently
received a $46,700,00 Grant from the US Dept of Agriculture and FEMA for Creek
bed stabilization and repair from the June 2006 flooding.
The area that was most effected by there review
was a section of Hillside Creek near the Hillside Farms where
the flood waters came out of Creek bed and re-routed the water flow outside of
the Creeks natural flood plain.
Without the invaluable assistance of Shawn
Ripka,Watershed Specialist and Josh Longmore the Director of the Luzerne
Conservation District this grant may not have been made possible for Jackson
Township and there dedication was greatly appreciated.
The final closeout and inspection by the US Dept
of Agriculture the Luzerne Conservation District and the Jackson Township
Supervisors found that the project was completed to all specifications and
done within the allowed time frame of the Government .
This Grant was applied for on behalf of the
Jackson Township Supervisors by Andy Sholtis,Zoning Officer and Deputy EMA
Coordinator with assistance by John J Wilkes Jr, Supervisor Chairman
